Michael’s Story – Renting in Niagara

Michael has an older brother living in Toronto who was thrilled to just sign a lease on a new condo. Sure, it’s a little small but at $2,000. per month it’s a great deal. Imagine Michael’s surprise when he found a large St. Catharines apartment in a great location for $600. But the price of rent is just part of why Michael has decided to make Niagara home.

Michael has fond memories of growing up in the GTA but when it came time to choose a university, once he visited the campus at Brock University, he knew this would be his next home. “Trees and greenery everywhere, great community and an updated and vibrant downtown with shops, restaurants and nightlife. What’s not to love?”

The low cost of living and vibrant lifestyle in Niagara aside, it was the job opportunities that turned Michael from a student into a long-term resident. While studying sports management at Brock, Michael got a job with the Niagara Ice Dogs. He used that experience to get a managerial position with the Brock Men’s Hockey Team and now hopes to work within the athletics department at Brock upon graduation.

“I love Brock and St. Catharines for everything they have done for my career and personal growth. I definitely plan on staying here for a long time.”

If you’re looking for a work life balance and a beautiful place to live, perhaps it’s time to consider Niagara region.
